Study this Book................Continually

Greetings in Jesus, fellow pilgrims.

I have been thinking this morning about something we read some days ago, actually back on April 10th. I have heard it said that the Bible its self actually does not give specific instruction on having a daily time in the Word of God. The Holy Spirit has indeed given some instruction in this area through the living Word:

"Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Mediate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do." Joshua 1:7-9 NLT

I believe the principle is sound, and caries with it a tremendous promise - one I think we all want to be recipients of??

May the Lord indeed bless you as you study and mediate on His Living Word!

85 Wholehearted Years.....still going STRONG!!

Caleb's story warms my heart, challenges my resolve, and reminds me of the great rewards from our King for complete consecration - i.e. WHOLEHEARTEDNESS.

The passage of scripture from Joshua 14:6-15, is a powerful passage not only of Caleb's resolve but also of our God's faithfulness!! Let me share a few highlights with you:

"...the land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly. ...So here I am today, eighty-five years old! I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I'm just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then....Then Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron as his inheritance." Joshua 14: 9, 10b, 11, 13 Niv

It's awesome what God can do with a life when it is given completely to Him!! Lord keep us wholehearted for you, strong and vigorous, filled with life and life abundant!!

May the Lord Jesus continue to bless you as you follow and serve Him.

A Healthy Heart - Long Life

Greetings in the name of Christ Jesus - Our Risen Savior! How is your journey through the living Word of God going, learning, growing, encouraged, have some questions? Me too - being in the Word, feeds my soul, no I don't have all the answers - sometimes I have many more questions than answers, so don't think you are alone. I do know who has the answers, so do you I hope - Yes His name is Jesus!!

I love part of today's passage in reference to our journey through God's Word, let me quote from the NLT "...Take to heart all the words of warning I have given you today. Pass them on as a command to your children so they will obey every word of these instructions. These instructions are not empty words - they are your life! By obeying them you will enjoy a long life in the land you will occupy when you cross the Jordan River." Deut. 32:46-47

A healthy heart (physical and spiritual) does equate to a long life.

Blessings,
Pastor Paul

A Different Attitude - Caleb's powerful example!!

Good day! I hope you are continually being encouraged by the living and active word of God. I wanted to comment on a passage of scripture that we read a few days ago. With all the activity of our recent break in, seems like this last week has gone by all too fast. Let me get back to the point.

On March 10th we read about the spies report on the promised land, you remember how Joshua and Caleb recommended taking the land, which almost got them stoned!! I would like to direct your attention specifically to Numbers 14:24 "But my servant Caleb has a different attitude than the others have. He has remained loyal to me, so I will bring him into the land he explored. His descendants will possess their full share of that land."

What an awesome complement to Caleb, to have a different (observable, positive, filled with faith) attitude than the prevailing (also observable, negative, filled with defeat, no faith) attitude. I believe as God's kids we are called and Holy Spirit enabled to have, or walk in a different attitude than those around us who too easily adopt the prevailing bad attitude syndrome.

The key is found I believe in our choice...............choose today to walk in a Caleb attitude, that honors our Lord Jesus.

May the Lord continue to bless you as you journey through His Living Word.

SPECIAL BLESSING - Numbers 6:24-26

Greetings adventurers - and blessings to all!! Thank you to each of you who have been posting remarks, praises, etc. your input is very much appreciated. Let me also say sorry I have not been posting more often - I am reading, just not keeping up with posting as often as I had hoped too!
Today's reading (March 6th) contains what is refered to as a "Special Blessing". In the NLT version it reads "May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace."
What a great prayer for us to pray for each other, our families, neighbors, and the world!! I have just paused and prayed for each of you!!

Team Work - make the load lighter.......

Good morning, and greetings to each of you fellow adventures in the Word. It's been a while since I have posted, but that dosen't mean I have not been reading! How about you, are you enjoying "Walking in the Word" as we adventure daily through the Living Word of our King!!
God has been speaking to my heart, and I hope He is to yours as well. I would sure love to see more of you posting comments under my posts, insights to scripture, simple comments, questions for us to consider? Jump in and encourage us, Ella has made some very encouraging comments - thanks Ella!!

Let me share a few things that caught my attention in todays reading....
Exodus 17:11-12 seems to me to be a real picture of "Team Work". Team work in the body of Christ is essential, we are all called to lend a hand, get involved, be dependable and consistent. I noticed this same theme in Exodus 18:22, in this passage Jethro is giving some sage advice to son-in-law Moses about finding some help to lighten his load. In essence Jethro tells Moses, "...Son a little Team Work would really help you, pick some dependable, consistent, God fearing helpers..." my quote. The scripture actually says "...That will make your load lighter, because they will share it with you." Exd. 18:22b - good advise!!

This statement took my mind and heart from the Old Testament to what Jesus said in the New Testament - a promise to each of us of His Help in our lives, realize the greatest team mate we have is Jesus!!! Listen to what He tells us.......

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for you souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30 Niv.

Praise the Lord..... be encouraged, we have an awesome "Team Mate" in Jesus, and a great example of what it means to be a Team Player....

Blessings,

Rescue and Rest for our Souls..........

The theme the Lord has been speaking into my heart from our readings the last couple of days is Rescue and Rest. I noticed that Jacob cried out to God when he was in fear of his brothers response to his home coming - "O Lord, please rescue me from the hand of my brother, Esau..." Gen. 32:11 Then I also read in Psalm 13:5 "But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me." Praise the Lord - if you know Jesus He is your rescuer! I am so thankful that Jesus has rescued me from the grasp of Satan and the power of hell!! He has also rescued me so many times when I found myself in need of help, hope and healing......His power to Rescue knows no boundaries.
The second part of this theme God is speaking into my heart is Rest. The words of Jesus speak volumes to our hearts "Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light."
Enjoy a little R&R in Jesus today!! He is your Rescuer and the one who gives you Rest!!
Blessings,
Pastor Paul
